The Index of Retail Prices for April 2015 stood at 166.5 points, representing an increase of 0.6 per cent when compared with the 165.5 points recorded the previous month.

This is according to data produced by the Barbados Statistical Service, which revealed that increases were recorded for Transportation by 2.0 per cent; Clothing and Footwear by 1.6 per cent; and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco by 1.5 per cent.

Fuel and Light also increased by 1.3 per cent; Household Operations and Supplies by 0.5 per cent; Medical and Personal Care by 0.3 per cent and Food by 0.2 per cent.

Decreases were registered for Housing as well as Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous by 0.1 per cent each. Between April 2014 and April 2015, the Index of Retail Prices decreased by 0.9 per cent, from 168.0 to 166.5 points. The average inflation rate for that period was 1.4 per cent.
