The Index of Retail Prices for August 2015 stood at 169.2 points, representing a decline of 0.2 per cent when compared with the 169.5 points recorded the previous month.

According to data produced by the Barbados Statistical Service, increases were recorded for Food by 0.9 per cent; Clothing and Footwear by 0.8 per cent; and Medical and Personal Care by 0.4 per cent.

Decreases were registered for Housing by 2.8 per cent; Fuel and Light by 1.7 per cent; Household Operations and Supplies by 1.2 per cent; and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, as well as Transportation, by 0.2 per cent each.

Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous remained constant during the period.??Between August 2014 and August 2015, the Index of Retail Prices decreased by 1.8 per cent from 172.3 points to 169.2 points, while the average inflation rate for that period was 0.4 per cent.
