The Index of Retail Prices for February 2013 stood at 165.8 points, representing an increase of 0.9 per cent when compared with the 164.3 points recorded in January 2013.

Increases were recorded for Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous by 5.5 per

cent; Housing by 3.4 per cent; Fuel and Light by 2.8 per cent; Alcoholic Beverages and

Tobacco by 1.3 per cent; Transportation by 1.1 per cent; Household Operations and

Supplies by 0.5 per cent; and Medical and Personal Care by 0.2 per cent.

Decreases were recorded for Clothing and Footwear by 1.5 per cent and Food by 0.7 per cent.

Between February 2012 and February 2013, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 2.3 per cent, from 162.1 to 165.8 points. The average inflation rate for the

12-month period February 2012 to February 2013 was 3.5 per cent.
