The Index of Retail Prices for February 2015 stood at 166.4 points, representing a decline of 1.1 per cent when compared with the 168.3 points recorded the previous month.

An increase was recorded for Medical and Personal Care by 1.2 per cent. In addition, the Transportation index increased by 1.1 per cent, and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco rose by 0.6 per cent.

Decreases were registered for Fuel and Light by 5.1 per cent; Food by 2.2 per cent and Housing by 0.9 per cent.

The index for Household Operations and Supplies and the Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous index fell by 0.7 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.

A decline of 0.9 per cent was recorded in the index for Clothing and Footwear. Between February 2014 and February 2015, the Index of Retail Prices decreased by 0.5 per cent, from 167.3 to 164.4 points. The average inflation rate for that period was 1.7 per cent.
