The Index of Retail Prices for January 2015 stood at 168.3 points, representing a decline of 1.6 per cent when compared with the 171.1 points recorded the previous month.

Increases were recorded for Household Operations and Supplies by 1.0 per cent; Housing by 0.4 per cent; and Medical and Personal Care as well as Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous by 0.1 per cent each.

Decreases were registered for Fuel and Light by 13.7 per cent; Transportation by 5.7 per cent; Clothing and Footwear by 1.1 per cent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco by 0.4 per cent and Food by 0.1 per cent.

Between January 2014 and January 2015, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 1.1 per cent from 166.5 points to 168.3 points. The average inflation rate for that period was 1.9 per cent.
