The Index of Retail Prices for July 2014 stood at 170.0 points, representing an increase of 0.5 per cent when compared with the 169.2 points recorded the previous month.
Increases by 2.2 per cent were recorded for Fuel and Light; 0.8 per cent for Household Operations and Supplies; 0.6 per cent for Food; 0.2 per cent for Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, Housing and Medical and Personal Care; and 0.3 per cent for Clothing and Footwear, as well as Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous.
Transportation remained constant over the period.??Between July 2013 and July 2014, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 2.2 per cent from 166.3 points to 170.0 points. The average inflation rate for that 12-month period was 1.7 per cent.
