The Index of Retail Prices for May 2010 stood at 142.6 points. This represented an increase of 0.3 per cent when compared with the 142.2 points recorded in April 2010.

Increases were recorded for Housing by 0.4 per cent; Fuel and Light by 1.4 per cent; Household Operations and Supplies by 0.2 per cent; Transportation by 0.6 per cent; Medical and Personal Care by 0.8 per cent; and Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous by 0.9 per cent.

Decreases were registered for Food by 0.1 per cent; Clothing and Footwear by 1.4 per cent.

The index for Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained constant when compared with April 2010.

Between May 2009 and May 2010, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 8.0 per cent from 132.0 points to 142.6 points.
