The Index of Retail Prices for October 2013 stood at 168.0 points, representing an increase of 0.1 per cent when compared with the 167.8 points recorded the previous month.

Increases of 2.4 per cent were recorded for Fuel and Light; 1.3 per cent for Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco; 0.3 per cent for Food; and 0.2 per cent for Household Operations and Supplies.

Decreases of 1.0 per cent were registered for Transportation; and 0.7 per cent for Housing, as well as Medical and Personal Care. Clothing and Footwear, Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous remained constant.

Between October 2012 and October 2013, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 1.7 per cent, from 165.1 points to 168.0 points. The average inflation rate for that 12-month period was 2.0 per cent.
