The Index of Retail Prices for September 2013 stood at 167.8 points, representing an increase of 0.4 per cent when compared with the 167.2 points recorded the previous month.

Increases of 2.3 per cent were recorded for Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco;??1.3 per cent for Transportation; 1.0 per cent for Clothing and Footwear; 0.3 per cent for Housing, as well as Medical and Personal Care; and 0.1 per cent for Food as well as Household Operations and Supplies.

Decreases of 1.3 per cent were recorded for Fuel and Light, while Education,??Recreation and Miscellaneous remained constant over the period.

Between September 2012 and September 2013, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 2.1 per cent, from 164.4 points to 167.8 points. The average inflation rate for that period was 2.1 per cent.
