The Index of Retail Prices for October 2012 stood at 165.1 points.?? This represented an increase of 0.4 per cent when compared with the 164.4 points recorded in September 2012.

Increases of 1.6 per cent were recorded for Clothing and Footwear; Transportation – 0.7 per cent; Medical and Personal Care as well as Education, Recreation and Miscellaneous – 0.3 per cent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and Fuel and Light – 0.2 per cent.

Decreases of 0.4 per cent were recorded for Housing, while Household Operations and Supplies moved downward by 0.3 per cent.

Between October 2011and October 2012, the Index of Retail Prices increased by 2.9 per cent from 160.3 points to 165.1 points.?? The average inflation rate for the 12 month period October 2011 to October 2012 was 5.8 per cent.
