The provision of training opportunities for Barbadians, the conclusion of a double taxation agreement and an air services agreement with India were among the areas discussed, when India???s High Commissioner Murugesan Subashini, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean yesterday.

During the meeting at the Ministry on Culloden Road, the High Commissioner updated the Minister on the progress of negotiations on both agreements and gave a commitment to resume talks on these issues.

The High Commissioner lamented the dwindling number of Barbadian applicants for training opportunities in her homeland. On that issue, Senator McClean gave the assurance that the information would continue to be widely disseminated to the public.

Barbados and India established diplomatic ties on November 30, 1966.
