The Index of Industrial Production for July 2014 was 77.3, indicating that the output level fell by 1.3 per cent, compared with the previous month and increased by 1.7 per cent when compared with July 2013.

The Manufacturing Division decreased by 4.1 per cent compared with the previous month and increased by 2.8 per cent compared with July 2013.

The Mining and Quarrying Division increased by 33.9 per cent compared with June 2014 and increased by 30.1 per cent when compared with one year ago. The Electricity, Gas and Water Index rose by 1.2 per cent above that of the previous month.

Manufacturing Index

Within the Manufacturing Division, increases were recorded for Wooden Furniture by 17.0 per cent; Chemicals by 13.2 per cent; Beverages and Tobacco by 9.7 per cent; and the Food Division by 1.6 per cent when compared with the previous month.

Decreases were recorded for Electronic Components by 41.5 per cent; Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 35.1 per cent; Wearing Apparel by 30.1 per cent; and Other Manufacturing by 4.5 per cent when compared with June 2014.

Mining and Quarrying

The Mining Sub-Division increased by 2.0 per cent compared with the previous month and fell by 21.8 per cent compared with July 2013. The Quarrying Sub-Division increased by 48.0 per cent compared with that of June 2014.

Electricity, Gas and Water

Within the Electricity, Gas and Water Division, increases were recorded for Natural Gas by 8.7 per cent and Electricity by 3.8 per cent. However, a decline by 8.7 per cent was recorded for Water below that of the previous month.
