In the face of various challenges experienced by other organisations, Courts Barbados has remained ahead of their competition through innovation.

This assertion came from Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss, as he addressed the launch of the company???s 50th anniversary celebrations today at its Bridgetown branch.

Congratulating the furniture store on its golden jubilee, Mr. Inniss attributed its success to ???deliberate strategic choices???, ???insightful and progressive leadership??? and dedicated staff.

???One solution Courts has embraced over these years is to keep innovating; to keep reinventing itself all in an effort to remain relevant and competitive amidst a global dynamic business ethos,??? the Minister added.

The Commerce Minister also reminded the management and employees of the company of their obligation to their customers.?????Customer service must therefore not only be couched in its accustomed language of being ???nice???, but it must also be communicated through a reasonable pricing regime,??? he contended.

Courts Barbados kicked off its 50th anniversary by donating over BDS $80,000 to various charitable causes. Managing Director, Trisha Tannis, declared her company???s continued commitment to ???contributing to many charitable causes and needs??? within the community.

Among the organistions receiving donations were: The HIV/AIDS Food Bank ($5,000), The Barbados Cancer Society ($7,500), The Heart and Stroke Foundation ($7,500) and The Thelma Vaughan Memorial Home ($8,000).

The furniture company also established an initiative entitled: ???The Courts Dare to Dream Scholarship Fund???, which seeks to provide financial assistance to students of tertiary institutions. The $30,000 award will be distributed to 10 selected students to assist them with the financial demands of their education.

Courts, which officially opened its doors on November 20, 1965, employs over 300 persons.
