Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Donville Inniss

Matters pertaining to trade development, sustainable tourism, transport and disaster risk reduction will be discussed when the 12th Intercessional Preparatory Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) gets under way this Friday, July 17, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Donville Inniss, will attend the two-day event which will also focus on issues regarding the Caribbean Sea, the Common Heritage of the Peoples of the region and International Cooperation.

In June, Barbados played host to the Secretariat of the Association of the Caribbean States 7th Meeting of the Caribbean Sea Commission. That meeting facilitated the preparation of a report to the Secretary General of the United Nations on the progress made on the implementation towards the sustainable development of the Caribbean Sea for present and future generations.

The designation of the Caribbean Sea as a ‘Special Area’ for sustainable development and comprehensive management surrounds a proposal which was made by member states through the ACS.
