The Caribbean will get the opportunity to be exposed to more aspects of Cuban literary culture and other areas of the arts during the 27th edition of the International Book Fair in Havana, Cuba.

The event, themed: Leer es crecer (Reading is Growing), began yesterday, Thursday, February 1, and is being held in the Fortress of San Carlos de La Cabaña.  The People’s Republic of China is the guest of honour country, while the book fair is dedicated to Historian of the City of Havana, Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler.

The book fair is the most important event of the Cuban publishing sector. It offers the chance for literary enthusiasts to buy books, engage with the authors and to showcase various facets of Cuban culture.

Apart from the fair, there will also be symposia, tributes, book presentations, exchanges and negotiations with a range of stakeholders and artistic events held at other venues in Havana. It concludes on Sunday, February 11.
