As part of celebrations to mark International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the Ministry of Environment and National Beautification will host a Scholarship and Awards presentation on Wednesday, September 12, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to the presentation, there will be a panel discussion on the topic: Perspectives on the Influence of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer on Operations within the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) Sector.

The panel will include representatives from the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology, the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association of Barbados, Unicomer Barbados Limited and CaribSupply (Barbados) Inc.

This year, the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is being celebrated under the theme: Keep Cool and Carry On! The Montreal Protocol! in recognition of the need for persons to protect themselves from the harmful ultra violet (UV) rays penetrating the vulnerable ozone layer, while efforts continue towards the implementation of the Montreal Protocol.
