The Bureau of Gender Affairs is collaborating with a number of entities to plan several activities throughout March to commemorate International Women???s Day, which will be celebrated worldwide on Sunday, March 8.

The majority of activities will take place on the day, and include an International Women???s Day Service organised by Women of Purpose at the Ellerton Wesleyan Holiness Church, Ellerton, St. George, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

There will also be another service to be held at the Fitts Village New Testament Church of God, Fitts Village, St. James, at 4:00 p.m.

A non-governmental organisation, Barbados Faces, will host a breakfast for ???at risk??? youth at Divi Southwinds Hotel, St. Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m., and a luncheon at the same hotel from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Also on Sunday, there will be a Champion Your Cause 5K walk/run; a cross fit challenge and a 30 minute Zumba workout at the Olympic Centre, Wildey, St. Michael, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The following day, Monday, March 9, there will be a lecture on the experience of women in Panama entitled: The Silver Woman: A Glimpse into the Lives of West Indian Women in Panama, which is being organised by the National Library Service.

It will be held at the headquarters of the National Library Service, Independence Square, Bridgetown, at 7:00 p.m., and will be delivered by Senator Professor Velma Newton.

Another lecture will be held by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies on Saturday, March 21, in Lecture Theatre 4, CLICO Centre for Teaching Excellence, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Wafaa Hasan will speak on Feminist Dialogue Boycotts and Politics of Transnational Feminist Solidarity in Israel and Palestine.

Activities will end on Tuesday, March 31, with a Girls Talk workshop, which is being organised by the National Task Force on Crime. It will be held at Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
