The economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future will be celebrated globally when International Women’s Day 2012 (IWD) is marked on Thursday, March 8.

To this end, the National Task Force on Crime Prevention (NTFCP), which is in its fourth year of commemorating this day, will hold its Girls’ Talk Workshop under the theme: Connecting Girls; Inspiring Futures.

Aimed at creating awareness of this significant day, the workshop is meant to expose young women to the challenges that may lie ahead and the best ways to handle them hence promoting healthy decision making skills.

According to an official at the NTFCP, "In hosting the workshop this year, the NTFCP will partner with the Wesleyan Holiness Church of Barbados as part of their Bi-Centennial celebrations.?? Through this partnership, it is shown that the Church has an important role to play in the empowerment of our young people and crime prevention."

The seminar is an interactive one where a range of topics are covered including: Peer Pressure; Women and Crime; Good Money Sense; Etiquette and Social Graces; Self Esteem/Spirituality; Your Body & You/Sexuality and Charting a Career Path.

Approximately 30 young women, aged 13 to 18 years, drawn from the youth of the Wesleyan Holiness Church will be invited.???? It will be held on Saturday, March 10, at Almond Bay, Hastings, Christ Church, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
