The International Business Division of the Ministry of Industry is producing a manual that would seek to make its stakeholders aware of the various processes involved in the sector.
The announcement was made on Monday evening by the Director of the International Business Division, Kevin Hunte, as he addressed a cocktail reception hosted by the Barbados International Business Association (BIBA) at Apes Hill Country Club, St. James.
Mr. Hunte told the gathering that all staff would be apprised of the contents of the manual to ensure that when calls are received, officers in the Division would be able to provide the answers at all times.
“Every challenge is to be embraced and I want us to continue to see challenges, whether we perceive them to be adverse or not, as an opportunity to show what we can do. As we go through our challenging times, I expect Barbados will rise like gold,” he underlined.
Meanwhile, President of the BIBA, Marlon Walrond, said he was heartened by the interest shown in the sector since the start of International Business Week celebrations in 2009.
He pointed out that the Association had reasons to be proud of the international business sector’s achievement and dispelled the notion that the sector would be “dead” by 2018.
“In relation to regulations imposed by the OECD and BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Sharing), BIBA, in partnership with the Ministry of International Business, has taken a positive outlook and we are still pushing to not only make it easier to do business in Barbados, but to make sure that we are a jurisdiction of substance and quality.
“During the remainder of this week, we aim to demonstrate to the public what the sector and its contribution really means to them as individuals,” he stated.
