A delegation from the Vienna-based International Press Institute (IPI), the world’s oldest global press freedom organisation, held talks with Attorney General, Adriel Brathwaite yesterday afternoon at Government Headquarters.

Some of the areas discussed were government’s??proposal to amend its laws with respect to Defamation, and enact new legislation in relation to Freedom of Information.?? They also addressed issues pertaining to press freedom and media development in Barbados.

The delegation also called on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who has responsibility for information.??

The team??was in Barbados from June 9 to 12, on a Caribbean tour as a forerunner to the IPI World Congress, to be held in Trinidad??&Tobago from June 23 to 26.
