Approximately 160 children between the ages of 13 and 17 will benefit from the Community Development Department’s 2011 Information Technology Summer Teens Programme (ITS for TEENS).

The LIME sponsored programme was officially opened today by Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, Steve Blackett, at the Bonnetts Resource Centre, one of the locations where the programme will be offered.

The Minister lauded LIME for partnering with the Ministry to provide the teenagers with this opportunity to develop their technological skills.

Chief Community Development Officer, Sandra Greenidge, also expressed her gratitude to the telecommunications company for??its endeavour and stated that "in the community development process there is a role for everyone, hence the Department’s decision to bring the private sector into the programme."

ITS for TEENS will also be offered at the Deacons and Grazettes Resource Centres, both in St. Michael; Briar Hall Resource Centre, Christ Church; Weston Resource Centre, St. James; Speightstown Resource Centre, St. Peter; and Rices Centre, St. Philip.

The programme will end on Friday, August 26.
