Issues relating to climate change, renewable and green energy and water resources were discussed when Ambassador-designate of Japan to Barbados, Mitsuhiko Okaba, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Dr. David Estwick.

Dr. Estwick, told the Ambassador that due to climate change, Barbados, like many other islands in the region, was experiencing low rain fall, which in turn was affecting the island???s water supply.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Okaba told the Minister than Japan and Barbados could work together in the area of green energy, as well as on matters related to disaster preparedness.??Barbados and Japan established diplomatic relations on August 29, 1967.
