Come next month, over 250 delegates are expected to converge in Barbados for a five-day conference.

This is when the National Agricultural Conference (NAC) partners with the Caribbean Agro Economic Society (CAES), to host the seventh Joint NAC-CAES Symposium slated to come off Monday, July 6, to Tuesday, July 7, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre and Wednesday, July 8, to Friday, July 10, at the Savannah Hotel.

Under the theme: "Food Security, Investment Flows and Agricultural Development in the Caribbean," a number of sub-themes including food prices and food security in CARICOM; the future of banana production; climate change and its impact on national resource systems, will be addressed.

Aimed at informing the agricultural and related sectors about ongoing work in the industry, as well as revealing analyses that would contribute to improvements in the area; the convention should attract participants from over 20 countries.

Among the topics to be discussed are: Agri-tourism: A Modern Development in Caribbean Agriculture; Technical Efficiency in the Agricultural Sectors of Selected CARICOM countries; Food Security Initiatives in the Tourism Sector and the Impact of Trade Liberalisation on the Food Security Prospects of Barbados.
