A project aimed at improving the current and future skills of Barbados’ labour force is being implemented by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations (MLSP).

The initiative, which is known as the “Roadmap for Skills Development in Strategic Sectors in Barbados Project”, is the result of months of collaboration between the two entities.

The key objective of its first consultancy is to assess the current state of the labour market and skills development systems. This is with a view to better understanding how the skills of the country’s current and future labour force could be matched with the demands of the private sector, particularly in a post-COVID-19 environment.

To achieve this objective, the consultant is seeking assistance from various key stakeholders, and primarily employers, in the completion of a survey which can be accessed by clicking here. The deadline for the completion of the survey is Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Organisations seeking further information on the project may contact Programme Officer with the MLSP, Moreen Bowen, at mbowen@labour.gov.bb.
