Students of the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) have been encouraged to contribute to their society in the same way that educational institution has done over the years.
The call came from Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, who was the guest speaker at a ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the Commemorative Broken Trident at the polytechnic on Monday.
Mr. Jones urged the students to follow the SJPP’s example in making a significant mark on society, and pointed out that the institution’s imprint could be seen across the landscape of Barbados
“Wherever you go in this country and other places where Barbadians are to be found, somebody that you encountered along your own journey had some kind of experience with the SJPP,” he noted.
The Education Minister advised the young persons to make wise use of all opportunities presented to them, as circumstances were much more difficult for past generations of Barbadians. He further urged the students must be grateful for the educational opportunities afforded them.
