Christopher Morgan’s dedication to his role as Junior Minister of Tourism and his recent acquisition of silver at the Regional Youth Congress in St. Kitts, were awarded during assembly at Harrison College this morning.
Mr. Morgan’s achievements were met with applause from his peers and his commitment lauded by Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, who thanked the Junior Minister for doing his country and school proud.
The Tourism Minster observed that, with programmes such as the Ministry’s speech competition, whose winner functions as Junior Minister for a year, "we can feel confident that the vital tourism industry will be well served going into the future".?? He added that he wished for those students present "to be strict guardians of your heritage and firm craftsmen of your fate…The tourism sector needs your involvement now and well into the future."
Offering words of encouragement to those gathered, Minister Sealy added, "…you too can blaze a trail in whatever you decide to do…you can hold up Chris as a fine example of what can result when you work hard."
The Regional Youth Congress was one component of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s State of the Industry Conference, where 12 Junior Minister’s vied for the top spot, with Jamaica’s representative winning first place at this year’s event.??
Schools interested in participating in the Ministry of Tourism’s Speech Competition 2013, must submit the names of two students by Wednesday, November 28.?? The nominees, who must be between the ages of 14 and 17, will be required to present on either sports tourism or the use of social media in marketing Barbados.??
