Lawrence T. Gay Primary School made a clean sweep in the National Planning Committee on Elderly Activities’ essay competition for primary schools.??

Writing on the topic, "A Day in the Life of An Elderly Person", the school won first, second and third place.??Shania Mayers copped the first prize; while Sankara Price and Ashlee Prescod were second and third place winners.

Shania and Sankara, received plaques, bags and books, compliments of the national Assistance Board, Kentucky Fried Chicken Ltd (KFC) and Days Books, respectively; while their schoolmate, Ashlee, was awarded a bag and book donated by KFC and Days Books.

The youngest entrant, seven-year-old Lia Murray of St. David’s Primary School, received a trophy, a bag and book.

Other schools participating in the competition were the Charles F. Broome Memorial, Reynold Weekes, and George Lamming Primary Schools.??They received trophies of participation.

The essay competition formed part of the activities for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and sought to bridge the inter-generational gap between the young and old.??
