Some 40 employers and managers from across the island, representing a wide spectrum of business interests, were today apprised of this country’s industrial relations climate.

The information oriented session was part of the Labour Department’s series of labour management relations workshops which aim to educate and sensitise stakeholders on pertinent issues in the workplace.

Speaking at the start of today’s seminar, Assistant Chief Labour Officer, Victor Felix, reminded the participants that they had a critical role to play in reducing conflict in the workplace and ensuring that the work environment was conducive to productivity.

He also praised those local managers who took time to learn more about industrial relations best practice and applied this knowledge for the betterment of the workplace.

In this regard, Mr. Felix paid tribute to the many stakeholders in the sector including government’s Labour Department and the trade unions, who worked diligently to ensure this country maintained a stable labour climate.

The half-day seminar, which took place at the Horatio Cooke Auditorium, National Union Of Public Workers headquarters, was held under the theme “Reducing Conflict: Enhancing Productivity.”
