On the heels of its successful ‘whistle-stop’ tour of several businesses last month, the Ministry of Labour will be hosting a HIV/AIDS Health Fair/Focus Day this Friday, February 27, in Holetown, St. James.

It will take place on the lawn in front of Super Centre Supermarket, Holetown, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm.

During the day, there will be voluntary counselling as well as blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol tests.

Officials from the Ministry’s HIV/AIDS Project Unit will also distribute HIV/AIDS information packets to business places in the surrounding areas.

In addition, related literature, promotional items and healthy snacks will be available to patrons visiting the booths.

The Health Fair/Focus Day is part of the Ministry’s HIV/AIDS outreach programme which is geared at business places and workers in both the formal and informal sectors.

The Ministry will also be conducting short dramatic presentations at the St. James Primary and Secondary Schools, which will focus on HIV/AIDS awareness. These presentations will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the respective school halls.
