Representatives of the National Union of Public Workers and the Management of the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) sat down today with Minister of Labour, Senator Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo to resolve an impasse regarding a proposed 3.5% wage increase for the staff of GAIA.

Meeting in the main conference room at the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens St. Michael, the Minister along with Chief Labour Officer, Vincent Burnett and other representatives from the Ministry met with both parties separately and then brought them together for further talks.

President of the NUPW, Akanni McDowall, NUPW General Secretary, Roslyn Smith, GAIA Chief Executive Officer, David Barrow and GAIA Chief Operating Officer, Joseph Johnson were among those attending the meeting.

The Minister noted that after today???s discussions ???the matter bears further consideration??? and that there was scope for reexamination.??Discussions are scheduled to continue on Friday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael.
