The Ministry of Labour continues to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS by hosting another ???whistle-stop??? bus tour this Friday, January 24.

The target group for this year???s tour is the transportation sector, hence the outreach will touch on Transport Board, minibus and ZR personnel at bus terminals and depots across the island.

Led by Project Coordinator in the HIV Project Unit of the Ministry of Labour, Rhonda Boucher, the team of ministry officials, peer educators and counsellors, will meet with staff of these facilities and ???spread the word??? on safe sexual practices and healthy lifestyle choices.

The tour gets under way at 9:15 a.m. at the Mangrove Depot in St. Philip, moving onto Weymouth, St. Michael at 10:00 a.m., and the Fairchild Street ZR Terminal and the Fairchild Street Bus Terminal at 11:00 and 11: 30 a.m. respectively.

From there, the team will visit the Princess Alice Highway Terminal at noon and conclude at the Speightstown Bus Terminal, St. Peter at 1: 30 p.m.

During the day, the group will distribute literature and memorabilia, have mini-counselling and education sessions and give short talks to staff members. In addition, there will be dramatic presentations at the Weymouth and Princess Alice Highway Terminals.

This is the sixth year that the Ministry of Labour has held the HIV and AIDS education bus tour.

Last year, the group visited the parishes of St. Thomas and St. Andrew, where officials met and spoke with employees and employers of several private businesses and government departments, including C. O. Williams Electrical Ltd., Mount Gay Distilleries, B???s Bottling Depot, the St. Thomas and St. Andrew Post Offices, Soil Conservation and the Belleplaine Police Station.
