The Ministry of Labour is continuing its efforts at promoting and providing a supportive environment for persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in the work place.

To this end, they will host a public outreach programme entitled “HIV/AIDS Infotainment” on Friday, December 05, 2008, at Warrens, St. Michael.

It will be held on the lawn adjacent to the Ace H & B Hardware carpark and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The activities will include Voluntary Counselling and Testing, and health checks for diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol. A nutrition booth will provide information on healthy eating habits.

In addition, there will be musical entertainment as well as performances by local dramatist, Jennifer walker, and some of the schools from the surrounding areas.

The event forms part of the activities for HIV/AIDS Awareness Week, which will be celebrated from Monday, December 01 to Saturday, December 06, 2008.
