When the House of Assembly resumes tomorrow, Tuesday, May 10, two supplementary items on land and financial organisations will be among resolutions down for discussion.

Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Chris Sinckler, is expected to move the First Reading of the Financial Institutions (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2011. He will also examine the Second Reading of the Environmental Levy Bill, 2010. This Bill will revise the law relating to the imposition of the environmental levy in order to make the law consistent with provisions of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, and at the same time validate the environmental levy paid and collected as outlined in the 2008 Budgetary Proposals.

In addition, Minister of Lands, Michael Lashley, will move the passing of a Resolution to approve in accordance with Section 5 of the Land Acquisition Act.Cap.228, the compulsory acquisition by the Crown of land at Colleton Plantation, St. Lucy. The land will be used for public housing development under the Housing Every Last Person (HELP) programme. The Resolution will also address the creation of a buffer zone required by the Chief Town Planner, as well as road widening in the area.
