The ‘Land for 500’ programme is progressing well, with lots at Woodbourne, St. Philip, Cliffden, St. John, Coconut Hall, St. Lucy, Cherry Grove, St. John, Branchbury, St. Joseph, Vineyard, St. Philip, Blackman’s, St. Joseph, Henly, St. John and Forty Acres, St. Thomas, soon to be readily available, as part of the Ministry of Housing and Land’s $5.00 per square foot venture.

The Ministry is working in conjunction with the National Housing Corporation (NHC).

The news came from Minister of Housing and Lands, Michael Lashley, who announced, in a recent interview, that each lot spanned 3,500 square feet. He pointed out that “the NHC does not act in isolation, but with other agencies such as Barbados Water Authority (BWA), Barbados Light and Power and the Town Planning Department, and the pace of progress of our progarmmes also depends on these agencies. Subsequently, we have set up a committee with the BWA and the Town Planning Department to accelerate both the housing and 500 lots programmes”.

‘Land for 500’ is an indication of the Housing and Lands Ministry and NHC’s continuing commitment to ensure that every Barbadian resident has access to comfortable shelter.
