As the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) has started issuing the land tax bills for the financial year 2021-2022, property owners are reminded that electronic payment channels are available for paying land tax.

The Authority is encouraging persons to make use of the digital options which offer convenience, rather than standing in a queue.

These options include ezpay.gov.bbSurePay, the Cave Shepherd Mobile App and the online banking platforms of First Citizens, First Caribbean and Scotiabank.

Overseas-based property owners can remit their land tax payments via wire transfer. For this option, taxpayers should ensure that the transfer information includes the Map Reference number and the year to which the payment is to be applied.

Over-the-counter payments can be made at the Authority’s locations at the Bridge Street Mall, Bridgetown; Warrens Towers II, Warrens, St. Michael; Southern Plaza, Oistins, Christ Church; and the Holetown Public Complex, St. James, or at any SurePay outlet. Persons also have the option of using the drop boxes at the Authority’s locations for submitting cheque payments.

The issue date for this year’s bill is June 28, 2021. This means that taxpayers can benefit from a 10 per cent discount if payment is made in full within 30 days and a five percent discount if full payment is made within 60 days of this date.

Thereafter, the principle amount is payable. All payment information for land tax can be found on the Authority’s website, or via the Authority’s social media channels.
