The Cabinet of Barbados has approved an extension of the 10 per cent and 5 per cent discount deadlines for the settlement of land tax.

The extension comes as Government recognises the disruption to households, businesses and the general economy during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2021-2022 as a result of the ash fall event and the recent freak storm and Hurricane Elsa.

The economic impact of these events compounded the fall off in cash flow for many persons from the COVID-19 pandemic. The 10 per cent discount deadline is now available up to October 29 and the five per cent discount deadline is available up to December 31

The public is reminded that payments can be made in installments. Payments made by installments must be made in full on or before the discount date to qualify for the applicable discount.

Taxpayers are encouraged to use the online payment options at ezpay.gov.bb; the SurePay online platform, and the Cave Shepherd Mobile App. Drop box facilities are available at all of the Barbados Revenue Authority’s locations for the submission of cheque payments.

These payments must be accompanied by the bill or have the Map Reference Number written on the back of the cheque.

Over-the-counter transactions are available at the Barbados Revenue Authority locations in Bridge Street Mall, Warrens Towers II, Holetown Public Centre and Southern Plaza, as well as at all SurePay locations.
