Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley, is hoping the youth of the Caribbean will consider the adoption of the Caribbean Federation Model to further develop the region.

Speaking at a workshop on Evidence-Based Policies on Youth Development in the Caribbean held at the Radisson Aquatica Resort, Mr. Lashley advised the youth leaders of the region who were present to see themselves as ???Caribbean nationals existing in a shared space???.

While acknowledging the many strides that were being made across the Caribbean with regard to the implementation of youth policy and empowerment, the Minister stated: ???Many of our goals, many of our aspirations cannot be solved unless we rekindle and revisit the issue of a Caribbean federation???

“I think that if young people don???t revisit the federation model and the notion of a single Caribbean government, then ??? they will not be doing their job in terms of moving forward and achieving all the goals they have.???

While discussing the success of the National Youth Policy, Mr. Lashley suggested that for lasting regional progress to be made among the youth, regional integration must be a focus.??The Caribbean Federation was formed in 1958 and ended in 1962.
