Primary and secondary school students will have an early opportunity to learn how to protect their copyright when the Guardians of Music Programme gets under way.

The programme was developed through a joint effort between the Copyright Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (COSCAP), the Ministry of Culture and the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO), and will be launched on Wednesday, March 7 at the Springer Memorial School, Government Hill, St. Michael at 9:30 a.m.

It is designed to educate the youth about issues involving copyright, plagiarism, piracy and the safe use of the Internet, and also to inform them about the importance of creativity, the arts and career opportunities in that field.

Deputy Registrar at CAIPO, Kevin Hunte, explained the programme would be an ongoing one, starting first in the secondary schools, and expected to run for at least one term.
