Some Caribbean businesses will have a chance to compete for a cash prize of US $100, 000 to invest in their enterprises thanks to the Pioneers of Prosperity Awards for the Caribbean programme.

Minister of Economic Affairs and Empowerment, Innovation, Trade, Industry and Commerce, Dr. David Estwick, will deliver the feature address during the official launch of the programme at Hilton Barbados, on Friday, February 13, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Now in its inaugural year, the incentive project seeks to identify, reward and promote outstanding businesses in the region. Businesses from the Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Guyana; Haiti; Jamaica; and Trinidad and Tobago are invited to enter the competition by filling out the online survey at www.pioneersofprosperity.org.

The winners will be chosen based on their ability to among other things: create unique value for consumers by offering innovative products and services; demonstrate the capacity to generate a sustainable profit for owners/shareholders commensurate with the risks taken by investing in them and investing in their employees by providing training, safe working conditions and competitive salaries.

The companies must show the ability to protect their future by strengthening their local and global environments and must be role models for other companies.
