The Windrush Migration Scheme will be the topic of discussion next week when the Barbados Museum and Historical Society (BMHS) winds down its lecture series entitled "Emigration from Barbados".

The featured presenter is Lecturer/Coordinator in Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Dr. Marcia Burrowes and the presentation will take place next Tuesday, April 6, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Grande Salle, Tom Adams Financial Centre.

The series, which commenced in March, explores the link between the sugar revolution in Barbados in the 1640’s and the emigration trends which occurred from that period to the present.

The penultimate lecture will be delivered by Director of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, Dr. Andrew Downes on Tuesday, April 13, at the Grande Salle. He will speak on the topic, "Managed Migration from Barbados: The Temporary Worker Programme in Canada & USA".

The series culminates on Tuesday, April 20, with Central Bank Governor, Dr. Delisle Worrell, presenting the topic "Migration and the Barbadian Standard of Living" at the Sir Hugh Springer Auditorium, Barbados Workers’ Union headquarters, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael.
