Educating All Children will be the focus of a lecture to be hosted by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development in conjunction with the Barbados Association of Reading (BAR) on Wednesday, February 29.

The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Vicky Spencer, Professor in Special Needs Education and Learning Disabilities at George Mason University, Virginia, USA.

Dr. Spencer, who is on a special visit to the island’s schools that cater to learning disabilities and special needs, will speak about the importance of a quality education for children whether they are exceptional, average or have special needs.??

In addition, she will use the opportunity to provide parents with strategies that can be utilised to support learning in the home.

The facilitator has over 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher, university professor, disability specialist, teacher trainer, and parent consultant. Additionally, she has expertise in cognitive strategy instruction for students with mild to moderate disabilities that includes students on the autism spectrum.

Sponsored by the United States Embassy’s Fulbright Specialist Programme, the discussion will be held in the Conference Room of the Barbados Light and Power, Garrison, Bay Street, at 7:00 p.m.
