Ways in which Barbados and Lesotho could collaborate on issues related to education came to the fore yesterday afternoon when a six-member delegation from Lesotho paid a courtesy call on Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science Technology and Innovation, Senator Harcourt Husbands.
The delegation was led by High Commissioner, Canada and Caribbean Territories, Dr Mathabo Tsepa and also included Minister of Education and Training, Makabelo Mosothoane; Chair, Examinations Council of Lesotho, Dr. Lifelile Mpho Matsoso; Registrar, Examinations Council of Lesotho, Dr. Litsabako Ntoi; Principal Secretary, Ministry of Education and Training, Keratile Thabana; and Director, Ministry of Education and Training, Mabakubung Seutloali.
During the meeting which was held in the Ministry???s conference room at the Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, Ms. Mosothoane explained that the education system in Lesotho was undergoing a transformation to ensure that it was on par with worldwide standards and was partnering with the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) in an effort to be effective in that process.
Senator Husbands gave an overview of the education system in Barbados from the primary to tertiary level and both parties discussed ways in which cooperation between this country and Lesotho could extend beyond a relationship with the CXC.
