Let???s Embrace and Appreciate Our Children is the theme parents and guardians are being encouraged to champion, when Child Month is celebrated in May.

The Child Care Board will host a range of activities to observe the month, beginning with a church service on Sunday, May 4, at the Sanctuary Empowerment Centre, Country Road, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.

A series of open days will be held at Government day nurseries across the island, beginning with Nightingale, Farm, Grazettes and Madame Ifill, from May 5 to 9.

From May 12 to 16, London Bourne, John Beckles, Joan Arundell and Delores ???Ma??? Worrell day nurseries will host their open days; while Geoffrey Morris, Colleton, Marion Hall and Sayes Court nurseries will welcome the public during the week of May 19.

The open day series will end with day nurseries at Haynesville, Bagatelle and Eden Lodge, hosting their sessions from May 26 to 30. The public is invited to visit between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and noon, and 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.

The public is also invited to a free Parent Education for Development in Barbados (PAREDOS) Parenting Workshop on Saturday, May 17, at Lester Vaughan Secondary School, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The Board will also host a range of staff appreciation activities and seminars for child care practitioners and youth alike, with the month set to end with a community service day, on Saturday, May 31, which will see the painting of Colleton Day Nursery, in collaboration with the Kiwanis Clubs of Barbados.
