Over 30 librarians from secondary schools as well as tertiary level institutions will undergo training next week to enhance their knowledge of the island’s online library facility.?? Coordinated by the Higher Education Development Unit (HEDU) of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, the training takes place on Wednesday, January 16, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the HEDU’s headquarters, "Anselm House", Government Hill, St. Michael.

HEDU, in collaboration with EBSCO Industries Inc., a key provider of e-books and audiobooks to libraries and other institutions worldwide, will facilitate the sessions.

Director of the HEDU, Dr. Patrick Rowe, in providing the rationale for the one-day workshop said: "We have expanded this online library and there are now over 72,000 e-books accessible to students and teachers conducting research, especially students doing research for school-based assessments. We want to see more use of the facility and librarians can assist."

Topics to be covered during the sessions include: How Can Librarians Assist Students and Teachers To Use the Database; Raising Awareness of the Online Library At Schools and on Campus and Helping Students to Download An E-BOOK from the E-BOOK collection.
