The grounds of Queen’s Park will be transformed into an outdoor classroom, when the National Library Service hosts a literacy fair to commemorate International Literacy Day.

The event, under the theme: Literacy: Beyond the Vision, is slated for Saturday, September 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The fair is designed to promote and support literacy at all levels; sensitise the public about library services; to foster a love for reading from an early age and to increase library membership. It will also seek to assist in the educational development of children and expose the public to technological innovations.

Patrons attending the event, will be treated to mind-stimulating activity such as storytelling, puppetry and computer games.?? There will also be health and breast- screening checks.

For the book worms, there will be a variety of texts on sale and local authors will also be on hand to autograph copies of their books.
