The National Library Service will be seeking to spread some joy and cheer over the next couple of weeks with two free Christmas concerts at Tamarind Hall and Jubilee Gardens, respectively.

The Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Police Band Concert will be held at Tamarind Hall Branch Library, Eric Holder Municipal Complex, Blackman’s, St. Joseph on Monday, December 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.??

On the following day, Tuesday, December 15, young patrons will be treated to traditional story-telling at the same venue from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Transportation will be provided for persons who wish to attend these events. The Sugar Hill bus leaves Bridgetown from the Fairchild Street Terminal at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. en route to Tamarind Hall.??

Buses will depart Tamarind Hall after both events, via the Sugar Hill and Chalky Mount routes, continuing onto Bridgetown.

The second concert, entitled "A Traditional Bajan Christmas" will be held on Saturday, December 19, at Jubilee Gardens, Lower Broad Street, Bridgetown, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

It will feature several local acts, including John King, the Mighty Gabby, dramatist Winston Farrell, Antoine Williams, the Barbados Landship, Sing Out Barbados, Dancin’ Africa, and the St. Leonard’s Boys’ Drama Group.

Traditional story-telling and speechifying will be on the programme and staff of the National Library Service will perform for patrons. The Master of Ceremonies will be Mac Fingall.
