Since the gradual reopening of some services at the Barbados Licensing Authority (BLA) owing to safety concerns regarding the Covid 19 pandemic, the BLA is announcing the recommencement of most of its services starting Tuesday June 2.

All of the services associated with the Plastic Licensing section will resume, including the taking of photographs for Driver’s Licences, printing of new licenses and the reprinting of renewed licenses.

All of the services being offered by the Driving Licensing section will also resume except the administering of the Driving Test. The services available to the public are:

  • The transfer of driving licences
  • Replacement of lost or damaged licences
  • International Permits
  • Application for permits
  • Public Service Licence – Conductor, ZR, ZM, BT, BM, and B
  • Written and Verbal PSV exam
  • Sign Test
  • On site visits for hired car companies seeking visitor permits

Appointments to have vehicles inspected are also available and those seeking to have vehicles weighed can come in to do so once the $25 fee is paid to the Barbados Revenue Authority.

With regard to the Regulation Test Section, persons who made appointments to take the Regulation test between March 27 and April 17, are asked to note that they will be accommodated for their test between June 2 and June 5.

The sittings will commence from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Only six persons will be accommodated at one sitting due to the social distancing protocols and it will be on a first come-first served system.

The BLA is working assiduously to have the driving test resumed as soon as possible and the public will be advised when this is done.

The Authority thanks the public for its understanding as it seeks to provide an efficient service while ensuring that everyone stays safe.
