Officers from the Animal Control Centre will be stationed at the Sheraton Mall car-park as part of a week-long licensing outreach programme from March 22 to 26.

A collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and the Hope Martin Foundation, the programme, which runs from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., aims to ensure registration of dogs and provide information in the form of pamphlets and brochures on the proper care and treatment of these animals.

Dog owners from Sargeants Village, Sargeant Village Tenantry, Broomes Road, Smith’s Road and Bartlett Tenantry are invited to come out and gain information on neutering, spaying, micro-chipping, licensing of kennels and the proper construction of homes for dogs.

The role and function of the Animal Control Centre will also be highlighted and officers will discuss legislation as it relates to the keeping of dogs.

This outreach programme is also aimed at continuing the interface at the community level and heightening public awareness about the treatment and care of the canine population.

Meanwhile, the Animal Control Centre is also reminding the public that a team will still be at the Animal Control Centre, the Lazaretto Compound, Lower Black Rock,

St. Michael, at the St. Philip Polyclinic and the Maurice Byer Polyclinic in St. Peter, to facilitate the regular licensing and surrendering of dogs during that week.
