Members of the public are asked to note that as work continues under the Coastal Risk Assessment and Management Programme, an Aerial LIDAR and photographic survey of the island will resume from Monday, February 16, and run until Friday, March 13.

Consultant firm, Pelydryn, has been retained by the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) to conduct the aerial sorties of Barbados, which will involve scanning and taking pictures of the island???s interior.

As a result, onlookers can expect to observe a small propeller-driven aircraft flying at low altitudes in repetitive patterns during this time period.

Officials at the CZMU are giving the assurance that there is no danger to the public as it is part of a routine exercise, and all necessary approvals for this survey were obtained from the Civil Aviation Department, the Barbados Defence Force and the Grantley Adams International Airport.

During the last quarter of last year, a number of surveys were conducted along the island???s coastal areas, but due to cloudy conditions and inclement weather, the consultant was unable to complete the job at that time.??
