Celebrations for Barbados’ 46th anniversary of Independence will begin tomorrow, Thursday, November 1, when the Sagicor Lighting Ceremony and Bajan Brew is held in National Heroes Square, Bridgetown.

The ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. and will be addressed by Minister of Culture, Stephen Lashley, among others. Eight-year-old Julian Brooks of the Irving Wilson School will flick the switch to light up Bridgetown.

The Bajan Folk Brew will begin at 7:00 p.m. and performers will include the Israel Lovell Dancers, Fantom Dundeal, Mikey, the Nazarene Silvertones of Barbados, Adrian Clarke and Tony Grazette.

Craftsmen of Our Fate: Inspiring Pride and Unity is the theme of this year’s celebrations and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
